Job Description:
Site level personnel have an obligation to support the site EHS
activities, compliance, and stewardship in coordination with site
level responsibilities and corporate EHS initiatives, programs, and
standards. This role requires strong leadership and communication
with various stakeholders with the highest level of integrity and
transparency - an overriding commitment to the protection of
people, community, and Tenneco liabilities.
- Directs and promotes the safety and health programs for the
Exton facility to ensure compliance with governmental regulation
and corporate policy.
- Investigates accidents, incidents, near misses and implements
corrective and preventative measures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Ensure Tenneco reporting and escalation process is followed at
all times
- Identifies potential EHS hazards in the workplace, conduct risk
assessments, develop and execute actions to mitigate the
hazards/risks. Verification of critical EHS&S equipment and
system inpsections.
- Develop emergency response procedures so that employees are
well-prepared to respond appropriately during an emergency
- Oversee environmental intiaitives such as waste management,
pollution prevention, air quality, etc in order to minimize the
site's environmental impact
- Understand all Tenneco EHS policies. Develop and promotes
safety manuals, policies, and procedures specific to site and
aligned with corporate on the Exton EHS SharePoint Site. Works with
R&D/technical teams in developing safety goals to include
accident reduction, housekeeping and safety compliance. Establishes
standards for housekeeping, machine guarding, ergonomics, etc.
- Consolidates information from EHS teams at other System
Protection sites to ensure global reporting is accurate and
completed on time.
- Ensures site is compliant with all regulatory requirements in
the township, county, state and country. Maintain compliance
calendar, permit/ceriftications.
- Continuous monitoring of EHS performance, trend analysis and
the implementation of improvements for enhancing EHS at the
site.
- Maintain and manage, for the site, the EHSIS system and LMS
system and ensure all site data is accurate. Responsible to input
all information in Corporate EHS database.
- Conduct regular inspections for compliance. Point person for
any and all EHS audits.
- Train and educate employees on all EHS matters. Develop and
execute a training calendar.
- Consistent interaction with site employees.
- Develop and oversee the safety team.
- Provides management and the safety teams with up-to-date
information on new developments in the areas of safety, health and
the environment.
- Ensure vendors or contractors are aware and following all EHS
rules/policies within the Exton site.
- Coordinate communications and site support through assigned
regional EHS manager
- Understand and manage the roll-out of all Corporate programs in
a timely manner
- Work closely with the site manager to determine EHS budget,
identifying cost-effective solutions for EHS initiatives
- Learns continuously about industry trends, best practices and
regulatory changes that are vital to maintaining a strong EHS
program.
- B.S. in Engineering, Environmental/Safety Science, or related
discipline
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in EHS role required.
Automotive industry or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA & reporting requirements
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills,
including formal and informal presentation skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to professionally
handle conflicts to ensure all employees adhere to the
rules/policies/programs.
- Ability to explain to all employees the importance of safety
and following safety protocols, policies and programs
- Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Organized and driven to complete corrective actions in order to
continuously improve the EHS culture at the site
- Passionate about ensuring all employees return home healthy and
safe
- Strong integrity to adhere to EHS standards, policies,
regulations
