Description: The department provides care in the interventional
radiology setting. The RN is required to manage patients in all
phases of the procedure: pre, intra, and post. Assessment and
charting must be done using the designated Radiology Flowsheet. IV
insertions to prepare patients for scheduled procedures are
required. Communication with physicians and mid-level providers
regarding the plan of care or changes in patient disposition is
essential. The unit includes 1 IR room and performs an average of
5-8 procedures per day. In addition to interventional radiology,
the department utilizes a separate lab for vascular procedures.
Common procedures include complex vascular embolizations, biopsies,
and pain management injections. The RN will work closely with an
interventional tech during procedures. Documentation is conducted
electronically and via paper, depending on the procedure type.
There are no call or floating requirements for the position. A
flexible schedule is expected, with an arrangement for lunch and
breaks. Weekend and holiday coverage will be handled by permanent
staff. The dress code includes royal blue scrubs, with options for
other scrubs or disposables during certain procedures. The unit
requires an evaluation of support needs after a brief orientation
period. Critical care experience is a bonus but not mandatory.
