Job Description:
This position directs and oversees administrative, operational,
and financial operations for the inpatient oncology, outpatient
infusion and radiation oncology departments. The Director of
Patient Care Services- Site Oncology is responsible for the
integration of the local oncology service line development,
implementation, and integration and collaboration across the HMH
network. Effectively works across departments and the HMH network
to efficiently produce outcomes. Ensures the department remains
compliant with all state and national guidelines and licensure
requirements. This position is accountable for implementing the
strategic plan for care delivery systems across the Medical
Center/Patient Care Facility (Medical Center), which is fully
aligned to the HMH Nursing strategic plan. The Nursing Director for
Patient Care Services - Site Oncology, assesses, plans, implements,
monitors, and evaluates nursing practice and the nursing care
delivery system with direct supervision of front-line leaders and
team members. He/she will promote compliance with quality and
safety initiatives and will foster effective collaborative
relationships between units/departments throughout the HMH network.
The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the

that may be inherent in the position. Responsibilities 1. Aligns
with hospital and Oncology CTS strategic goals to develop and
implement initiatives that support current and future growth of
cancer services. 2. Maintains a current working knowledge of all
aspects (including clinical and business) of the service line.
Demonstrates this knowledge through leadership, innovation and
collaboration. 3. Manages the day to day operations, including
clinical and administrative support staff of all aforementioned
oncology areas to maintain the highest levels of patient, physician
and team member satisfaction. 4. Tracks and trends outcome
measures. Identifies opportunities and leads efforts for
improvement to achieve best demonstrated practice. 5. Organizes,
plans and directs care management activities consistent and in
compliance with accreditation/regulatory bodies to include (but not
limited to) Joint Commission, NAPBC, ACoS, ACRO or ACR, NJDOH,
NJDEP. 6. Interfaces with leadership at various levels of the
organization. Establishes strong working relationships throughout
the network to coordinate business/financial objectives and
activities. 7. Oversees the development, maintenance and
implementation of policies and procedures. 8. Manages and/or
assists in the recruitment, development and supervision of team
members in all aforementioned areas. Creates and sustains an
environment that fosters team member engagement. Establishes clear
objectives tied to department and organizational strategic goals.
9. Participates in the implementation of the Medical Centers and
the networks HMH organizational and nursing strategic plans,
performance improvement program, human resources program, and
annual operating budget, plans, goals and objectives. 10.
Demonstrates a clear vision that supports HMHs vision, mission and
shared values; maintains a big picture view: foresees challenges
and opportunities; generates break through ideas through
innovation. 11. Plans, organizes, and provides administrative
oversight of assigned patient care units and/or departments. 12.
Ensures attainment of clinical, service, financial, quality, and
growth parameters for assigned patient care units/departments. 13.
Monitors nursing standards of practice, policies, procedures,
protocols and guidelines to ensure compliance with internal and
external regulatory agencies. 14. Develops and implements short and
long-term goals for all areas assigned in alignment with the
Medical Centers and HMH Organizational and Nursing strategic plans.
Prioritizes organizational goals and incorporates them into
standard work, up to and including leading and/or participating in
organizational-level committee work with clear performance
improvement goals that is consistent with the mission, vision and
philosophy of nursing and the organization. 15. Supports the Magnet
Program Director and Magnet program by ensuring the support of a
shared governance model, collection of data, writing of exemplars
and coordination of the document as requested. 16. Supports and
interprets policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the
hospital. Creates a collaborative culture through teamwork that
enables HMH to accomplish its mission, vision and strategic
priorities. 17. Maintains consistent rounding for visibility in
areas of responsibility to inspire respect, build trust and
facilitate communication to peers and subordinates. 18.
Collaborates effectively with other disciplines as appropriate. 19.
Provides the leadership support and resources to ensure a talent
pipeline for succession planning and ensures professional
development opportunities for team members. 20. Pursues
professional growth and participates in a professional
organization. 21. Provides thorough employee understanding to
maximize productivity and minimize turnover. 22. Ensures compliance
with development and implementation of staff satisfaction,
retention, and recognition processes. 23. Oversees compliance with
established standards and regulatory requirements. 24. Participates
in development, implementation, and achievement of evidence-based
practice standards. 25. Demonstrates financial responsibility and
accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources
in daily procedures, processes and practices. 26. Establishes
detailed work force management plan to address ongoing staffing
needs and including adherence to productivity standards. 27.
Coaches leaders in providing a cost-effective nursing service. 28.
Supports High Reliability Organization (HRO) environment with a
focus on patient and employee safety. Participates in review of
ONELink/safety events and partners with Patient Safety Officer on
any follow-up activities. 29. Responds to patients and families as
necessary. Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and
confidentiality of all appropriate information. 30. Other duties
and/or projects as assigned. 31. Adheres to HMH Organizational
competencies and standards of behavior. Qualifications Education,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Bachelors (BA/BS/BSN)
and Masters (MA/MS/MSN/MBA/MPA/MHA) or Bachelors (BA/BS/BSN) and
Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (DNP) degree are required. One
degree must be in nursing. 2. At least 5 years of progressive
leadership in related fields is required. 3. Excellent financial
management, delegation, and organizational skills. 4. Ability to
communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to react
quickly and calmly in emergency situations. 5. Must possess the
ability to deal tactfully with colleagues, personnel, residents,
family members, visitors, and the general public; and possess an
understanding of people and a sense of accountability, fairness,
and consistency. 6. Established analytical, problem-solving and
decision-making skills. 7. Established coaching skills that inspire
team members, leaders, and physicians to execute and comply with
network strategies. 8. Capacity to collaborate with diverse
populations of team members and physicians to gain consensus and
achieve results. 9. Proven writing, public speaking and
presentation skills. 10. Excellent written and verbal communication
skills. 11. Proven competence in Microsoft Office Programs (Word,
PowerPoint, Excel) or Google Productivity Suite (Docs, Sheets,
Slides). Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1.
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience preferred. Licenses and
Certifications Required: 1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse
License. Licenses and Certifications Preferred: 1. National nursing
administration certification. (Must attain national nursing
certification within the 1st year of employment.) 2. National
specialty certification. Compensation Starting at $171,891.20
